Statewide schedule — read this before you rely on it

All 77 counties use the November 1 due date with half due by January 1 and the balance by April 1; the first half can slip later only where the roll is certified late. Most counties in this state follow these dates.

Delinquent ad valorem taxes bear interest of 1.5% a month or major fraction of a month until paid, capped at 100% of the unpaid tax.

County treasurers mail statements after the assessor certifies the tax roll in the fall, and collection opens November 1.

Bryan County at a glance

What would the tax be on a house I buy here?

On a $400,000 purchase in Bryan County, OK, property tax comes to about $1,708 a year — roughly $142 a month — at this county's effective rate of 0.43%.

$

Effective rate 0.43% = this county's median owner-occupied tax bill ($943, ACS 2022 5-year estimate) divided by the typical home value at the time ($221,085, Zillow, 2022-12-31). Exemptions the seller holds — homestead, senior, veteran — usually do not transfer with the deed, so a new purchase can run above this figure. The county assessor sets the assessed value; this is an estimate, not a quote.
